Week 5: Blog Project

1.    Go to several webs pages or content sites and look to see what ad formats are used. Do they conform to IAB guidelines? (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Go to the same page on a mobile site and compare. Were there differences, and why do you think so? Are any of the advertisers using Mobile Rising Stars and which ones?
2.    Discuss the effectiveness of these ads in your blog. If you can find ads related to your company you are following, discuss also.

The first website that I went to was 1776united.com. On the computer, it is big and is well layout.  The information is down at the bottom.  Does not have any extra ads, has red buttons on the site if you have a question or need help.  I then pulled it up on my phone, big different.  The information is very condensed. Has a pop up that once you to send you notifications. Then at that top is to open in the app. Has everything in little blocks or sections instead of layout all big.

The second westie that I went to was Dunkin Donuts. Which is now just Dunkin’.  At the top of the web page, it talks about the terms of use and privacy policy have changed and must be answered to go forward.  Then it asks to sign up for their mobile app. Then it talks about the National Donut Day, which is June 7th, 2019.  The rest of the website layout is just fine, very informative.  I pulled it up on my phone, and the site looks just like the website on the computer. The only thing different is it asking for the locations of your service, so they can see which restaurant the closes to you is.  It also asked you to be added to the home screen.  The rest of the site on the mobile is just like the website layout, just smaller.

The last website that I went to was Bath and Body Works. I pulled it up on the computer and as soon as the page pulled up. Had a pop about sign up for the email.  Had to click it off or sign up to move forward. Had the normal page layout, what is on sale, where all the information is located. The page was bright and very eye-catching. The rest of the information was done at the bottom of the page.  Went to the mobile site, the information was done smaller, the sale items right at the very top, flashing for you. Had to scroll down to find the other information, like if you wanted to shop by category. The mobile site had all the sale stuff at the very top as the page came up.

Now if you go to sites that are not like name band company as I did you will find lots of ads on a page. One of the sites that have lots of ads is going to be allrecips.com. They have ads at the very top of the page. Once you click on the recipes it has ads on the side of the page too. Now on the mobile site, it gets very hard to look at a recipe, because you must wait for the ads to load to move down the page.
